Mirtos is located 15km west of Ierapetra. The small village has been known for many years by travelers and has now evolved into a well loved destination for independent tourists. It gets very busy in summer but it is still on a small scale, not mass-tourism.
Getting there: regular buses from Ierapetra
Atmosphere: Mirtos manages to be lively and laid-back at the same time
Accommodation: a good choice of rooms, studios and a couple of hotels. Plenty to choose from. Find accommodation in Mirtos
Restaurants: there are a dozen restaurants in the village.
Shopping: a few supermarkets as well as a number of other shops
Nightlife: still pretty quiet. Some bars with music
Beach: a long pebble beach without much shade
